    Satyadev Dubey Biography

    Satyadev Dubey is an Indian director and actor. He is also involved in playwriting, screenwriting and other film related activities.

    He received Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the year 1971.

    He received National Film Award for Best Screenplay in 1978 for the film Bhumika and got Filmfare Best Dialogue Award in 1980 for the film Junoon. He received Padma Bhushan award from Government of India in 2011.

     

    He was born in the year 1936 in Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh.

    His aim was to become a cricketer and with this aim he moved to Mumbai. But he had to join a theatre group that was run for the budding artists by Ebrahim Alkazi.

    This unit produced many important plays in the Indian Theatre at Delhi.

     

    Dubey produced the first play Yayati by Girish Karnad. His other notable plays are Hayavadana, Ebang Ondrajit and Pagla Ghoda, Aur Tota Bola, Aadhe Adhure, Khamosh!
