Born in 1973 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Huzir Sulaiman is a well-known Malaysian actor, director and playwright. He graduated from Princeton University where he won the Bain-Swiggett Poetry Prize, with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature  and is a 2007 Yale World Fellow.

His plays are performed in Malaysia & Singapore and also have been presented abroad in Tokyo, Berlin, New York and London. He teaches playwriting at the National University of Singapore. Besides writing plays, he also writes in Wide Angle, his fortnightly column in Malaysia’s leading English newspaper The Star, covers diverse topics in culture, politics and society.

In the early part of this decade, he hosted afternoon talk show on WOW FM for a short while. Huzir Sulaiman is also the co-founder and Joint Artistic Director of Checkpoint Theatre as well as the co-founder and Creative Director of Studio Wong Huzir.
